WAEC Puts Out Provisional 2026 BECE Results for Private Candidates

Private candidates who sat for this year's Basic Education Certificate Examination now have something to check for. The West African Examinations Council has published the provisional 2026 BECE results for private candidates on its official website, and anyone who wrote the exam privately can now go online to see how they did.

The numbers behind this year's private candidate sitting

Nearly 3,000 people registered for the private BECE this year, 2,987 in total, made up of 1,618 males and 1,369 females, drawn from every region in the country. The exam itself took place at designated centres in selected regional capitals. Of everyone who registered, 101 candidates did not show up to write.

Nine results on hold over exam malpractice concerns

Not every result went out clean. WAEC flagged nine candidates whose scripts raised questions during marking, citing suspected collusion, and has withheld their results pending further investigation.
